Is Happiness A Problem?

We are always looking for something which can give us happiness. But actually happiness is a big problem! What is actually the true meaning of happiness? While reading The Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck, famous book by Mark Manson. I found something that really shocked me. It was the happiness tonic that everyone is looking for.

Introduction

If I achieve X, then I can be happy. If I look like Y, then I can be happy. If I can be with a person like Z, then I can be happy. We’re always trying to find happiness in worldly pleasures because it’s how we define what is happiness! Suffering is a part of life and we need to accept this.

Don’t hope for problem-free life, Hope for better problems

Mark Manson

Suffering is useful

Remember when we strike our feet with table and started yelling? Who idiot put this in my way? Either it is physical or psychological pain it makes us better and prevent repeating that same mistakes again. It might not be easy to bear the pain of daily exercise but it feels good, we know that we have done something that was needed to be done. Remember, we can’t skip suffering it’s a part of life. We have two choices either enjoy solving Great Problems or just blame other people for your basic life problems.

What is real happiness?

When we think of happiness what comes to our mind – watching comedy movie, listening music, eating tasty food and many other pleasure things. But they are just doses of dopamine and generates temporary highs. Real Happiness comes from solving problems. True happiness occurs only when you find the problems you enjoy having and enjoy solving.

Nobody who is actually happy needs to stand in front of mirror and tell himself that he’s happy.

Why we fail to achieve true happiness?

We fail to achieve happiness in our life because of the two reasons : first is Denial, people simply deny that they have problems in their life and it helps to feel good in short term, but inside themselves they know that they will have to pay the price. second is Victim Mentality, some of us choose to blame others for our problems and accepting that we cannot do to solve our life problems. It leads to anger, and frustration.

Then people often get trapped in chasing Highs, whether it is alcohol, some form of exercise, weeds or any other thing that helps them to forgot about the problems for that period of time.
